Witów is a village in western Podhale, between Chochołów and Kościelisko, at the mouth of the Chochołowska Valley. Guests looking for somewhere to stay in Witów are usually after three things: quiet, a short distance to the Tatras, and somewhere to rest after a whole day of walking. Rezydencja Kojsówka answers all three: it sits off the main road, it has a very large garden running down to the river, and both the mountains and Zakopane are a short drive away.

Guests have twelve rooms, sleeping up to 32 people. Breakfast is included in the price of every stay, and the wood-fired garden hot tub is charged separately: 300 zł. There is a large free car park on site, so there is no hunting for a space along the road and nothing to pay for parking. That matters most in winter and at the height of summer, when Witów fills up with cars heading towards Siwa Polana.

Why guests choose Witów over Zakopane

Zakopane is tempting, but a room in the centre means crowds, traffic and parking charges. Witów gives you the opposite: in the evening you hear the river rather than Krupówki, and in the morning you drive towards the trail instead of queuing behind everyone else. Zakopane is still a short hop away, so an evening on Krupówki or a museum visit stays within reach — you simply come back somewhere quiet.

The second reason is the Chochołowska Valley. It is the longest and one of the most beautiful valleys in the Tatras: visited in crowds in April for the crocuses, walked and cycled through in summer, open to cross-country skiers in winter. Staying in Witów means you can set off early, before the car parks fill with day visitors.

Close to the thermal baths and the Witów Ski slope

The Chochołowskie Thermal Baths are one of the most searched-for destinations in the whole of Podhale, and often the reason guests look for a room in this particular area. From Kojsówka it is a few minutes by car, so a swim after a day in the mountains — or in the rain — is a real option rather than a day-long expedition. In winter the Witów Ski slope runs right next door. There is no need to drive to a bigger resort every day to get on skis.

For those who would rather walk, the path up Magura Witowska starts nearby, and the ridge carries on towards Gubałówka. These are quiet, wide-open trails you can set out on straight from the door, without getting into the car.

A room with a garden, a river and a hot tub

What sets Kojsówka apart from an ordinary guest room is what happens outside it. A very large green plot wraps around the house: a terrace, a spot for a bonfire and a barbecue, room for children to play, and a path leading straight down to the river. In the evening the most popular thing on the programme is the hot tub: outdoors, wood-fired, available for a surcharge of 300 zł.

This side of the place matters most to families and groups of friends who come for several days. The day does not need a plan: you can head into the Tatras, or you can stay, read a book on the terrace and come back to the conversation around the fire. Many guests spend at least one day of their stay exactly like that.

Breakfast, pets and celebrations

We serve breakfast every morning in the dining room of the house and it is included in the room rate. There is nothing to add on or book separately. The same room lets us host family celebrations: christenings, first communions, birthdays, anniversaries and company events, with the option of taking the whole house.

Kojsówka also welcomes guests with pets. Just let us know when you book so we can set aside a suitable room. The large plot around the house means the daily walk with a dog does not require leaving the grounds.

When to come

Spring in Podhale belongs to the crocuses and empty trails, summer to the valleys, the water and long evenings in the garden, autumn to quiet and colour, winter to skiing, sleigh rides and the thermal baths. The busiest periods are the winter half-term, the May long weekends, and July and August. For those dates it is worth booking well ahead. Out of season Witów can be almost empty, which for some guests is the best thing about the place.
