Where to eat in Witów: Witowianka by the slope

Breakfast is included with us, but lunch and dinner have to happen somewhere. The nearest, with no drive to Zakopane and no hunt for parking, is Witowianka by the slope.

In brief

  • The Witowianka restaurant is in Witów, next to the Witów-Ski slopes.
  • The menu is built on Polish and European cooking with distinct regional touches.
  • The interior is wooden and spacious, with a Podhale dresser and a Tatra panorama across one wall.
  • Right at the slope there is a separate self-service inn geared to serving skiers quickly.
  • It is the nearest lunch option to Kojsówka that does not involve a trip to Zakopane.

The most common question after the second day of a stay is: “where can you get a proper meal here without driving to Krupówki?” We always give the same answer: a few minutes from us, by the Witów-Ski slopes, there is Witowianka.

We do not run the place and have nothing to do with it beyond being neighbours. We recommend it for a simple reason: it is the nearest option that does not involve driving to Zakopane, sitting in traffic and hunting for a paid parking space.

The restaurant: lunch and dinner

The main room serves Polish and European cooking with distinct regional touches. The interior is wooden and spacious, plainly decorated, with a Podhale dresser, a stone floor and a Tatra panorama taking up a whole wall giving it its character.

It is a space that also hosts receptions and celebrations, so at weekends it is sometimes taken by events. If you are planning dinner with a larger group, it is worth calling ahead to be sure of a table.

The inn at the slope: quick, between runs

Separately, right at the slope, there is a self-service inn. It was designed for skiers: quick service, Polish and Podhale cooking, food between one ride up and the next.

In practice it is the best option for lunch in the middle of a winter day, because you do not have to take off your ski boots and drive anywhere. In season it gets busy at lunchtime, so it is worth eating earlier or later than everyone else.

With children

What matters to families is that the Witolandia play centre is on the ground floor of the restaurant building. In practice that means a lunch at which the adults sit for longer than ten minutes, because the children have something to do on the spot.

We have described it separately in the piece on ideas for a rainy day, because that is when it works best.

What else is nearby

  • Chochołów, towards the thermal baths: regional inns along the main road, on the way to the pools.
  • Kościelisko and Zakopane: the widest choice, but also the most people and the parking problem.
  • The hut on Polana Chochołowska: a hot meal mid-walk, if you happen to be in the valley.
  • The barbecue and fire pit in the garden at Kojsówka: for many guests the simplest and calmest option for the evening.

Practicalities

From Kojsówka to Witowianka is a few minutes' drive, and in good weather some guests simply walk. Breakfast is included in your stay, so in practice this is about one meal a day, two at most — which is exactly why the distance matters more here than the length of the menu.

If you are planning a larger family celebration at Kojsówka, we cater it ourselves, in our own dining room. We recommend Witowianka as the option for ordinary, everyday meals during a stay.
